NearBuddy Community Guidelines

NAMAVI TECHNOLOGIES PRIVATE LIMITED
Website: https://near-buddy.com

Effective Date: as defined in Section 3.
Last Updated: as defined in Section 33.

1. Purpose and scope

NearBuddy is an adults-only social and dating/discovery app that helps you meet people near you. These Community Guidelines explain how you are expected to behave on NearBuddy, what content and conduct are not allowed, and how our safety tools work. They apply to every NearBuddy user and to everything you do on the app, including your profile, your photos, your interactions, and your messages. These Guidelines form part of your agreement with NearBuddy and should be read together with the NearBuddy Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, and Account Deletion Policy.

2. Who may use NearBuddy

NearBuddy is only for adults aged 18 or older. By using NearBuddy you confirm that you are 18 or older. Your NearBuddy account is anonymous: NearBuddy does not use a phone number, email address, password, one-time code, or identity verification to sign you in. Because of this, honest and respectful behaviour from every user is essential, and you are responsible for the activity that takes place through your account.

3. Effective Date and Last Updated

"Effective Date" means the date and time on which NearBuddy first becomes publicly available to users through either Google Play or the Apple App Store, whichever occurs first.

These Community Guidelines apply from the Effective Date. A later release of NearBuddy on the second store does not create or reset the Effective Date. The initial "Last Updated" date is the Effective Date; if these Guidelines are later revised, the "Last Updated" date becomes the date of that revision (see Section 33).

NearBuddy works only when people treat each other with respect. You agree to:

  • be honest about who you are and provide truthful, non-deceptive profile information;
  • treat other people with courtesy and respect their boundaries;
  • seek and respect consent in your interactions;
  • use NearBuddy for its intended purpose of meeting people, not to harm, exploit, deceive, or take advantage of others.

5. Clean public profiles

Your public profile — everything other users can see about you — must be clean, appropriate, and suitable for display to other people. Public profile content must not contain:

  • nudity;
  • sexually explicit photos or videos;
  • pornography;
  • indecent, obscene, or sexually suggestive visual content;
  • exploitative or abusive sexual content;
  • any content involving minors;
  • graphic violence;
  • hateful, threatening, harassing, or discriminatory material;
  • illegal content;
  • deceptive or impersonating content;
  • another person's private or identifying information;
  • scams, spam, solicitation, or misleading promotion;
  • public display of phone numbers, WhatsApp details, social-media handles, email addresses, external links, or similar direct-contact information.

These rules apply to your photos, your display name, and any other information shown on your profile.

6. Public photo and visual-content rules

Your profile photos must appropriately and honestly represent you, and must comply with the clean-public-profile rules in Section 5. In particular, profile photos must not contain nudity, sexually explicit or pornographic material, indecent or sexually suggestive imagery, exploitative sexual content, any content involving minors, graphic violence, or another person shown without their permission. Do not upload images you do not own or do not have the right to use.

7. Private inbox conversations

Conversations in your private inbox between consenting users aged 18 or older are private. NearBuddy does not proactively monitor or police what consenting adults choose to discuss privately. This does not mean private messages are without rules. The following are prohibited, including in private messages:

  • unwanted sexual messages or advances;
  • harassment, threats, coercion, intimidation, or stalking;
  • exploitation or blackmail;
  • fraud, scams, or spam;
  • illegal conduct of any kind;
  • sharing intimate content of another person without their consent;
  • child sexual abuse or exploitation, or any sexual content involving minors;
  • any attempt to pressure, manipulate, or deceive another user;
  • attempts to bypass a block or any other restriction.

In short: consensual private conversation between adults is treated as private, but harmful, non-consensual, exploitative, threatening, fraudulent, or illegal conduct is never allowed, whether in public or in private.

8. External contact sharing after a mutual match

To help keep the community safe, public profiles must not display phone numbers, WhatsApp numbers or links, Instagram or other social-media handles, email addresses, external contact links, or similar direct-contact details.

You may choose to share your external contact details voluntarily and privately with someone after you have a mutual match, through the private inbox. Please use good judgement before moving a conversation off NearBuddy or sharing personal contact information: once you communicate outside NearBuddy, these Guidelines and NearBuddy's tools may no longer help you, so share such details only with people you trust and are comfortable with.

9. Harassment, threats, coercion, and stalking

Do not harass, bully, threaten, intimidate, coerce, or stalk anyone on NearBuddy. This includes repeated unwanted contact, intimidation, threats of any kind of harm, and pressuring someone into doing something they do not want to do.

10. Hate and discriminatory conduct

Do not use NearBuddy to attack, demean, or discriminate against people based on characteristics such as race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or similar characteristics. Hate speech and discriminatory abuse are not allowed.

11. Sexual content and sexual misconduct

Public sexual content is not allowed (see Sections 5 and 6). Sexual solicitation, pornography, nudity, and explicit public content are prohibited. Unwanted sexual messages and any non-consensual sexual conduct are prohibited, including in private messages. Sharing intimate images of another person without their consent is prohibited.

12. Protection of minors and child safety

NearBuddy is strictly for adults. Child sexual abuse, exploitation, or grooming, and any sexual or exploitative content involving minors, are absolutely prohibited and have no place on NearBuddy. Anyone under 18 may not use NearBuddy. If you encounter a user you believe is a minor, or any content that sexualises or endangers a minor, stop engaging and report it immediately using the in-app Report tool (reason: Underage) and, where appropriate, contact us. NearBuddy does not tolerate this conduct and cooperates with lawful requests from competent authorities.

13. Scams, fraud, spam, and commercial misuse

Do not use NearBuddy to scam, defraud, phish, or make deceptive financial requests. Do not send spam, run mass solicitation, advertise, or promote products, services, or other platforms without our permission. Do not ask other users for money or financial help under false pretences.

14. Illegal or dangerous conduct

Do not use NearBuddy for any illegal activity, to encourage illegal activity, or to organise, threaten, or glorify violence or serious harm to others.

15. Privacy and personal information

Respect other people's privacy. Do not share, post, or threaten to share another person's private or identifying information without their permission, and do not attempt to collect or misuse other users' personal information.

16. Impersonation and deceptive accounts

Do not impersonate another person, brand, or organisation, and do not create fake, deceptive, or misleading profiles. Your profile must represent you honestly.

17. Intellectual property and content permissions

Only upload content that you own or have permission to use. Do not post content that infringes another person's or organisation's intellectual-property or other rights.

18. Platform manipulation and restriction evasion

Do not manipulate or abuse NearBuddy's systems. This includes manipulating discovery, matching, referrals, payments, or subscriptions; creating multiple or abusive accounts; and attempting to bypass a block, a suspension, a restriction, the effects of account deletion, or any other enforcement. Do not use malware or harmful links, scrape the service, use bots or other automated access, or otherwise interfere with NearBuddy or other users.

19. Payment and subscription abuse

Do not engage in payment abuse, fraudulent purchases, refund abuse, or any attempt to manipulate subscriptions or entitlements. Subscription billing, cancellation, and refunds are handled by the app stores as described in the NearBuddy Payment & Subscription Terms and the NearBuddy Refund & Cancellation Policy.

20. Blocking

You can block another user at any time. Blocking works as follows:

  • a block is directional and is permanent within its intended scope;
  • after a successful block, you and the other user can no longer interact;
  • both of you are removed from each other's discovery, so you will not be shown to one another again;
  • any relevant likes, dislikes, and mutual-like relationships between you are removed in both directions;
  • once a block succeeds, the blocked person's profile is removed from your view;
  • if a block does not complete successfully, it will not falsely appear to have succeeded;
  • there is no user-facing unblock list or unblock process — a block is intended to be final.

21. Reporting

You can report a profile using the in-app report tool. The available report reasons are:

  • Fake or scam
  • Inappropriate content
  • Harassment
  • Underage
  • Spam
  • Other

Please note how reporting works:

  • reporting a user by itself does not automatically remove that user from your view; if you want to stop seeing and interacting with someone, you can also block them;
  • when you also block the user and the block succeeds, their profile is removed according to the blocking rules in Section 20;
  • the person you report is not told that a report was submitted or by whom;
  • reports may be kept as records that can be used for review or enforcement purposes;
  • NearBuddy reserves the right to act where appropriate under the Terms & Conditions and these Guidelines.

Reporting is an important safety tool, but please understand that submitting a report does not, by itself, guarantee that a specific action will be taken, that you will receive an individual response, or that content will be removed immediately.

22. No proactive monitoring

It is important to be clear and honest about how NearBuddy works. There is a difference between: the conduct rules in these Guidelines; the user-initiated Report and Block tools that you can use; NearBuddy's reserved right to act on violations; and proactive monitoring. NearBuddy does not claim to proactively monitor every profile, message, or interaction. The absence of constant monitoring does not make any prohibited conduct acceptable — these Guidelines apply at all times, and every user remains responsible for following them.

23. NearBuddy's enforcement rights

Where appropriate, NearBuddy reserves the right to:

  • restrict your access to the Services, in whole or in part;
  • remove or limit content;
  • suspend an account;
  • terminate an account;
  • preserve report or enforcement records where necessary;
  • cooperate with lawful requests from competent authorities where required.

These are reserved rights, not a promise that violations are automatically detected or that enforcement systems run continuously. We may act proportionately where practical, and we may act without prior notice where necessary for safety, legal compliance, fraud prevention, or the protection of users or the Services.

24. No guaranteed appeal or response

NearBuddy does not promise advance warning in every case, a fixed investigation period, a guaranteed individual review or response, a guaranteed appeal, reinstatement of an account, continuous monitoring, or immediate detection of violations. If you believe an action was taken in error, you may contact our support or Grievance Officer (Section 27); however, this is a way to raise your concern and is not a guaranteed formal appeal or reinstatement process.

25. Account deletion and unavailable chats

If you permanently delete your NearBuddy account, then, as described in the NearBuddy Account Deletion Policy: your prior message content, your name, your profile photo, and your identity are no longer visible to others; a former conversation may show only the generic, non-content message "This chat is unavailable."; your deleted content cannot be recovered; and your account cannot be restored, transferred, rebound, or migrated. No user content remains after deletion, apart from the narrowly limited non-content records described in that Policy. Please see the NearBuddy Account Deletion Policy for full details.

26. Safety when moving communication outside NearBuddy

Your safety matters. Be cautious about sharing personal information, and use good judgement before moving a conversation to another platform or agreeing to meet in person. When you communicate outside NearBuddy, NearBuddy's tools and these Guidelines may no longer be able to help you. Trust your instincts, take reasonable precautions, and if someone makes you feel unsafe, stop engaging, block them, and report them.

28. Relationship with the Terms & Conditions

These Community Guidelines form part of, and are to be read together with, the NearBuddy Terms & Conditions. A breach of these Guidelines may also be a breach of the Terms & Conditions, and NearBuddy's enforcement rights under Section 23 apply in addition to its rights under the Terms & Conditions.

29. Relationship with the Privacy Policy and Account Deletion Policy

How your personal information is collected and handled is described in the NearBuddy Privacy Policy. How your account and data are removed when you delete your account is described in the NearBuddy Account Deletion Policy. These Guidelines should be read together with those documents, all available on the NearBuddy website.

30. Governing law

These Guidelines shall be governed by the laws of India.

31. Dispute resolution

The parties shall first make a good-faith effort to resolve any dispute amicably.

32. Jurisdiction

If a dispute cannot be resolved amicably, it shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Thrissur, Kerala, India.

33. Last Updated

The "Last Updated" date of these Guidelines is the Effective Date for this initial version. If these Guidelines are later revised, the "Last Updated" date becomes the date of that revision. The Effective Date as defined in Section 3 continues to apply to the original Guidelines unless a revision expressly states otherwise.

Nothing in these Guidelines limits any right or remedy that applies under applicable law and cannot be excluded.
