1. Purpose of this Data Policy
This Data Policy is a clear, plain-language guide to how NearBuddy handles your data. It summarises what information NearBuddy receives, why it is used, what NearBuddy does not collect, who may help process your data, what controls you have, and how deletion works. It is a companion to the NearBuddy Privacy Policy: it is meant to be easier to read, and it does not replace the Privacy Policy. For the complete privacy terms, please read the NearBuddy Privacy Policy, available on the NearBuddy website.
2. Who operates NearBuddy
NearBuddy is operated by NAMAVI TECHNOLOGIES PRIVATE LIMITED, whose registered office is DOOR NO: 13/350, MALIYEKKAL, MADAKKATHARA P O, THRISSUR, KERALA – 680651, INDIA. Contact details are in Section 28.
3. Effective Date and Last Updated
"Effective Date" means the date and time on which this Data Policy is first published on the official NearBuddy website.
This Data Policy applies from the Effective Date. The initial "Last Updated" date is the Effective Date; if this Data Policy is later revised, the "Last Updated" date becomes the date of that revision (see Section 32).
4. Relationship with the Privacy Policy
This Data Policy complements, and should be read together with, the NearBuddy Privacy Policy. Where you need the full legal detail of how your personal information is handled, the Privacy Policy governs. This Data Policy is written to help you understand the key points more easily, and it does not create any new rights, data categories, processors, or retention rules beyond those in the Privacy Policy and NearBuddy's other policies.
5. Anonymous accounts and account identifiers
Your NearBuddy account is anonymous. NearBuddy does not require a phone number, email address, password, one-time code, or identity verification to sign you in. This does not mean NearBuddy holds no account data: to operate your account, NearBuddy uses internal account identifiers, and it may use limited device-related information where needed for account integrity, protecting purchased benefits, preventing abuse, and applying NearBuddy's account-creation rules.
Because accounts are anonymous, NearBuddy does not provide historical account recovery, transfer, rebinding, migration, or restoration. If your account is lost, deleted, or becomes inaccessible, it cannot be recovered through a phone number, email address, password, one-time code, or identity check.
6. Profile and preference data
You provide profile and preference information so NearBuddy can present you to others and find suitable people nearby. Depending on what you choose to enter, this may include your display name, age or date-of-birth information, gender, height, weight, body type, interests, your discovery and matching preferences, and your profile photos, along with other details you intentionally add. NearBuddy uses this information to create and display your profile, to support discovery and matching, to apply the preferences you select, and to support safety, reporting, blocking, and account administration.
7. Location data and proximity
With your permission, NearBuddy may use your device location while you are using the app to show nearby people and to calculate distance. Your precise coordinates may be used as an input to work out how near others are, but your exact location is never shown or returned to other users — others only ever see an approximate distance or proximity result. NearBuddy does not use background location. Any "Precise Nearby" or distance-display behaviour follows NearBuddy's product rules, and exact coordinates are never part of your public profile. If you deny or turn off location permission, location-based discovery may be limited.
8. Photos and media
You may add profile photos using your device's camera or photo library, with the permissions your device provides. Before a photo leaves your device, NearBuddy re-encodes it and removes embedded EXIF/location (GPS) metadata, and any face detection used to help prepare a photo happens on your device. Your profile photos are stored and delivered so your profile can be displayed to others. Photos are subject to the NearBuddy Community Guidelines and Child Safety Standards, and they are removed when you delete your account, as described in the NearBuddy Account Deletion Policy. NearBuddy does not use photos for biometric identification, facial recognition, identity verification, or identity checks, and does not guarantee automatic detection of inappropriate content.
9. Discovery, matching, likes, and interactions
To run discovery and matching, NearBuddy processes the interactions you make and the information needed to operate them — such as your likes, dislikes, mutual matches, blocks, reports, referrals, matching preferences, your profile-view allowance, your active or online state, the approximate distance shown, and your discovery and matching results. This information is used to operate discovery and matching, apply your preferences and the applicable allowance rules, prevent blocked users from interacting, support reporting and safety, administer referral or subscription benefits where applicable, and protect the integrity of the service. Exact coordinates are never exposed to other users.
10. Messages and conversations
NearBuddy stores and processes your messages and related conversation information so that you can communicate with the people you are matched with. NearBuddy does not claim to proactively monitor every private message or conversation, and private conversations between consenting adults are treated as private. However, prohibited, harmful, non-consensual, exploitative, fraudulent, threatening, or illegal conduct remains prohibited, and you can use the Report and Block tools at any time; blocking affects later interaction as described in the Community Guidelines.
If you permanently delete your account, your message content, your name, your photo, and your identity are no longer visible to others, and a former conversation may remain only as the generic, non-content message "This chat is unavailable." That marker contains no recoverable user content or personal data and cannot be used to restore your account or any conversation.
11. Report, Block, safety, and enforcement data
When you use the safety tools, NearBuddy processes the related records — such as your block records and your reports (which use a fixed set of report reasons, including for a suspected underage account) — and it may keep limited safety, fraud, or enforcement records where necessary. Please note that reporting an account does not by itself prove a violation or guarantee a specific result, and the person you report is not told that a report was submitted. NearBuddy does not claim continuous monitoring, automated moderation, automated child-sexual-abuse-material detection, or guaranteed manual review. Any records kept for safety, fraud prevention, enforcement, or lawful cooperation are limited to what is necessary and permitted or required, are not a broad or indefinite retention right, and do not provide account restoration.
12. Child-safety information
NearBuddy is strictly for adults aged 18 or older, and all child sexual abuse and exploitation is prohibited. You can report a suspected underage account or a child-safety concern using the in-app Report tool (reason: Underage) and, where appropriate, contact the Child Safety Contact (Section 28). Full details are in the NearBuddy Child Safety Standards.
13. Subscription and payment data
If you buy the optional Ad-Free Subscription, it is purchased and billed through the applicable app store — Google Play Billing on Android or Apple In-App Purchase on iOS — and NearBuddy uses RevenueCat to verify and process subscription-entitlement information. NearBuddy does not collect, receive, or store your payment-card or bank-account details. NearBuddy may receive store purchase identifiers, transaction status, your subscription and entitlement state, expiry information, and refund or revocation information from the store or RevenueCat.
Your entitlement is bound to the specific anonymous account that made the purchase and is not transferable, rebound, migrated, or restored to another account. Deleting your NearBuddy account does not by itself cancel or refund a store subscription — you manage cancellations and refunds through the applicable app store. If you delete your account during an already-active paid period, only a minimum, non-content benefit record may remain until the end of the paid period that was already active when you confirmed deletion; a later renewal does not extend that period, restore the account, or give access through the deleted account, and the remaining record is deleted at that expiry.
14. Technical and operational data
NearBuddy is deliberately light on technical data collection. Connections between the app and NearBuddy's services use encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS), and while NearBuddy takes reasonable measures to protect information, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. NearBuddy's own service does not deploy the analytics or notification technologies listed in Section 15. As with any online service, the providers that operate NearBuddy's infrastructure and hosting may generate limited technical records as part of delivering their services under their own practices; that is separate from any user-facing analytics or tracking, which NearBuddy does not use.
15. Analytics, advertising, cookies, and tracking
NearBuddy's free experience is supported by advertising, which you can remove with the optional Ad-Free Subscription; any advertising is handled under the applicable advertising provider's and app store's terms. Aside from advertising, NearBuddy does not use third-party analytics, crash-reporting services, or push-notification services, and does not proactively monitor your interactions. The NearBuddy website is a static site and does not set NearBuddy analytics cookies or use NearBuddy behavioural tracking. NearBuddy does not sell your personal information.
16. Website and APK-download data practices
The official NearBuddy website is a static website hosted through GitHub Pages, and NearBuddy's Android app file (APK) may be provided through GitHub Releases. Under this setup, the website does not use NearBuddy advertising or analytics cookies or third-party behavioural tracking, there is no website account or login, and contact is by email at namavitech@gmail.com. The public account-deletion resource is available at https://near-buddy.com/delete-account. When you follow an external link or download a file, the relevant external provider may process technical request information (such as your request to their servers) under that provider's own practices.
17. Service providers and data recipients
NearBuddy relies on a small number of providers that process data on its behalf or to provide their own services:
- Supabase — backend, authentication (anonymous accounts), database, storage, and related service functions.
- RevenueCat — subscription-entitlement and purchase-status processing (used in connection with a purchase).
- Google Play and Apple App Store — app distribution and store-based purchases.
- GitHub Pages — static website hosting.
- GitHub Releases — distribution of the app file (APK).
- Google ML Kit (on-device) — the on-device component used for photo-related processing on your device.
These providers process only the data needed to provide their services, under their own applicable terms and privacy practices. Not every provider receives every category of your data. NearBuddy does not sell your personal information to these or any other parties.
18. How NearBuddy uses data
NearBuddy uses the data described above to: create and run your anonymous account and keep you signed in; build and show your profile; support discovery, matching, and your preferences; calculate approximate distance; operate likes, dislikes, matches, messaging, blocking, and reporting; provide the referral feature and the optional Ad-Free Subscription; keep the service and its users safe from abuse; and operate, maintain, and support the service.
19. What NearBuddy does not do
To be clear, NearBuddy does not: require a phone number, email, password, one-time code, or identity check to sign in; show your exact location to others; use background location; use third-party analytics, crash-reporting, push notifications, or website tracking; sell your personal information; collect or store your card or bank details; proactively monitor every message or interaction; or use automated moderation or automated child-sexual-abuse-material detection.
20. Data sharing
Other users see the information shown on your profile (such as your photos, display name, age, and gender), your approximate distance, and whether you are active — never your exact location or your contact details. Beyond that, NearBuddy shares data only with the service providers in Section 17 so they can operate the service, and where necessary to comply with the law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of NearBuddy, its users, or the public. NearBuddy does not sell your personal information or share it with advertisers or data brokers.
21. Retention
NearBuddy keeps your account data for as long as it is needed to operate your account and provide the service. Records kept for safety, fraud prevention, enforcement, or lawful cooperation are limited to what is necessary and permitted or required, and are not a broad or indefinite retention right. How data is removed when you delete your account is described in Sections 22–25.
22. Account deletion
You can delete your account yourself inside the authenticated app. Permanent deletion begins immediately after you confirm the single in-app deletion prompt. When you have no active paid benefit at that time, your account data and user content are deleted immediately, and no user content remains on NearBuddy's servers, apart from the limited items in Sections 23–24. Deletion is permanent and follows the NearBuddy Account Deletion Policy.
23. Paid-benefit deletion exception
If you delete your account while you have an active, already-paid benefit, everything is deleted immediately except the absolute minimum, non-content record needed to honour that benefit until the end of the paid period that was already active when you confirmed deletion. That cutoff is fixed at deletion and is not extended by any later renewal. At the end of that period, the remaining record is deleted immediately. This record holds no user content and cannot be used to sign in or restore your account.
24. Unavailable-chat marker
After you delete your account, a former conversation may remain for the other person only as a non-content marker showing "This chat is unavailable." It contains no message content, photos, name, profile information, or other recoverable personal data, and cannot restore any message, conversation, or account.
25. Limited lawful preservation
Where applicable law requires or permits it, NearBuddy may preserve only the limited records necessary for child safety, enforcement, fraud prevention, compliance with valid legal obligations, or cooperation with competent authorities. Any such preserved record does not enable account restoration, and NearBuddy provides no historical anonymous-account restoration mechanism.
26. User permissions and controls
You have meaningful control over your data. You can: grant or deny device permissions (such as camera, photo library, and location); edit your profile information; change your matching and discovery preferences; block another user; report a profile or a concern; manage or cancel a subscription through your Google Play or Apple account; delete your NearBuddy account inside the app; and contact support, the Grievance Officer, or the Child Safety Contact. Some permissions or data are necessary for particular features to work — for example, location is needed for proximity features.
27. Account recovery and restoration limits
Because your account is anonymous and NearBuddy does not use a phone number, email, or password, a lost, deleted, or inaccessible account cannot be recovered, transferred, rebound, or migrated, and a paid benefit cannot be moved to a new account. Using NearBuddy again means using a new, separate account.

29. Relationship with the Terms & Conditions
This Data Policy forms part of, and should be read together with, the NearBuddy Terms & Conditions, which govern your use of NearBuddy.
30. Relationship with the Community Guidelines and Child Safety Standards
This Data Policy should also be read together with the NearBuddy Community Guidelines and the NearBuddy Child Safety Standards, which set out the conduct rules and child-safety standards that apply to all users, and which the safety, reporting, and blocking data in this Data Policy supports.
31. Changes to this Data Policy
NearBuddy may update this Data Policy from time to time. When there is a material change, NearBuddy will update the "Last Updated" date and, where appropriate, provide further notice. The current version is always available on the NearBuddy website.
32. Last Updated
The "Last Updated" date of this Data Policy is the Effective Date for this initial version. If this Data Policy is later revised, the "Last Updated" date becomes the date of that revision. The Effective Date as defined in Section 3 continues to apply to the original Data Policy unless a revision expressly states otherwise.
Nothing in this Data Policy limits any right or remedy you may have under applicable law that cannot be excluded, and where the Privacy Policy provides more detail on a data matter, the Privacy Policy governs.
